New burning permit procedure & fees

Burning Season begins on January 15 and runs through May 1 each year, weather dependent. A written permit and permit fee of $10.00 will be required by any homeowner intending to burn. However, if the homeowner is 65 years of age or older, the fee will be waived but a written permit will still be needed.

Permits will be issued at the Fire Station between the hours of 9:00 am and Noon, Monday through Saturday. A permit, once issued, will be valid for the entire season; however, it will be necessary for the homeowner to notify the Fire Dept. each day they are planning to burn by calling the Fire Station at (978) 649-6661. Burning can be restricted any day by Order of the Fire Chief, if weather is determined to be unsafe for burning.

Copies of The Requirements for Outdoor Burning will be available at the Fire Station.
