Provides 24 x 7 police services for the safety and security of all residents.
Residents may view the Police Department on the local cable program called "Groton Dunstable 9-1-1". (Click here to view recent episodes.) This cable program shows on  Charter channel 13 and Verizon FIOS channel 31.  The Dunstable Police Department produces a new program every other month on the first week. In addition, the Police Department provides a monthly message on this site the 10th of each month. (Messages also may be seen in the Neighbor to Neighbor newspaper.)

Officer Profiles

Lieutenant James W. Dow has been a member of the Department since 1989 and serves as the second executive officer in charge of the Police Department. The Lieutenant continues to deliver "on scene police services", but he is also responsible for several administrative tasks. As a "use of force training officer", he provides baton and oleoresin capsicum instruction to all officers. Lieutenant Dow's additional collegeeducation includes the successful completion of management training at the University of Massachusetts. Lastly, Lieutenant Dow oversees major police investigations and serves as a community liaison.

Sergeant Darrell Gilmore is a first line supervisor with the Dunstable Police Department, and he will be approaching his ninth year of service to the community. Sergeant Gilmore has successfully completed management training at the University of Massachusetts, Police Leadership program. He serves as a Triad officer and liaison to Dunstable Senior Citizens. Sergeant Gilmore regularly writes an article titled "SENIOR CITIZEN ALL POINTS BULLETIN" that focuses on points of interest for all Senior Citizens. It may be viewed on the Police Web Site or in the Neighbor to Neighbor. In addition, Sergeant Gilmore is a certified latent fingerprint technician and forensic photographer. He maintains responsibility for local firearms licensing, and may be contacted Wednesday night through Sunday night for firearms licensing concerns.

Master Patrolman Michael Lynn has provided meritorious service with the Dunstable Police Department since 1999 and serves as the Criminal Justice Information System liaison to the State of Massachusetts. Officer Lynn received his police training at the Lowell Police Academy and has earned an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Middlesex Community College. As a veteran officer, Officer Lynn is responsible for providing field training to all new police recruits. Officer Lynn recently attended a field officer training program held at the Reading Police Academy. Training was funded through a Community Policing grant.

Officer Benjamin Sargent has served with the Dunstable Police Department for five years and will receive recognition as a Master Patrolman on July 1, 2006. Officer Sargent began his career with the Dunstable Police following previous experience, and he has continued his training and education while serving the town. He has earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and has attended and successfully passed numerous training courses in crime scene investigation and crime scene collection. Officer Sargent serves as one of there Dunstable crime scene technicians. In addition, Officer Sargent is assigned to the Regional Response Team of the North East Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) where he participates in regional police training and special tactical operations.

Officer Eric Hoar began his police career with the Dunstable Police Department as a reserve officer an was later promoted as a full time police officer after successful completion of Basic Police Recruit Training. Officer Hoar's combined seven years of police experience has allowed him to advance his training and education, and he now serves as one of three crime scene technicians. In addition, Officer Hoar is a Massachusetts Certified Firearms Instructor and he provides firearms recertification training for the Dunstable Police Department.
